ISSA-LA December Monthly Virtual Meeting 2020

December 16, 2020 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm PST

You do not want to miss this important panel discussion on the new legal privacy rules passes in 2021. Are you prepared?

California passed California Proposition 24, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). This has a high probability to become privacy law in other States, and possibly a Federal regulation. The new law has significantly modified CCPA, with new requirements for businesses similar to the European General Data Protection Act (GDPR). But just because you may be compliant with GDPR, it won’t guarantee compliance with CPRA.

California will now have the most stringent laws as related to consumer privacy in the US, and will allow consumers to have a choice about how companies use their data.

This is of course a massive upheaval to how we do business today, and will involve updating so many of the frameworks and regulations that we structure companies around – because none of them mention data minimization or data purposefulness. To be compliant with this law 3 years from now, companies will need to adopt data minimization/purposeful principles which is not an easy feat (can’t say this part enough because there are massive human & systemic factors here).

Learn about all the new requirements and what you have to do to position your company to become compliant.
