Speaker: Appropose of Valentine’s day, we are thrilled to have Abe Chen, VP of Security at Tinder join us to lead this one hour, intimate fireside chat where he will share and answer questions regarding what he has learned about building relationships, career decisions, growing teams, skills and education, and product/tech selection, over his 20+ year career in security.

Building Relationships: This section will focus on what it means to be the  “Empathetic Security Pro.” How it’s important to understand the point of view of the other party. This mindset will help one understand both the needs of your security partner, as well as understand the mindset of your attackers.

Building a Career in Security: Should one specialize or be a security generalist? Here Abe will talk about his career decisions and reflect on what allowed him to grow and what he could have done differently.

Growing Teams: Many at some point in their security career will be challenged with building a team. We will talk about recruiting members, balancing talent, setting expectations, and what it takes to not only build a strong team but retain talent.

Education:  How does one learn and grow their knowledge in security; a generalist versus a specialist? What are the trends and what works. How does one make sure that their skills are relevant at the start of their security career and ensure resilience.

Tech Selection: Abe will discuss topics on attitudes and relationships involved in tech selection.  A product that works in one environment, might not work in another. How does one navigate the noise and pick what’s right for your environment? Where do you start? How do you build on security tech to scale?
